Enjoying the PNE so far!
I’ve been having a good time at the PNE since it opened in Vancouver on August 18th.
Saw Dal Richards and his orchestra perform on opening day and they were terrific. This concert was all about the music. They finally released a new album with all the songs they play that I like to hear, so I bought my first Dal Richards album Dal Richards ! and Friends.
I’ve seen Bryan Berg start to build Vancouver’s Skyline out of playing cards

I’ve also seen the bicycle powered Human Fountain

For the first time I watched the renamed Red Robinson’s Talent Showdown. I saw the youth (13 to 18 I think) talent competition on Sunday, August 19th. A young woman from Langley, Emily Taylor Adams, won the event with a country and western song she composed herself called What boys do best I think. She was awesome! Finals are this Saturday, September 1st.

Yesterday I saw the Peking Acrobats. Breathtaking!
All in all a fun line up so far this year. I’m glad to see that alot of the evening concert entertainment this year features Canadian Artists. There are still things the PNE can work on to bring even more Canadian content. This years Toontastic parade is a letdown, considering there are many Canadian animated characters for kids to enjoy.
The Red Barns at Farm Country still features plenty of purely Canadian acts though!
Keep the Pacific National in the PNE!
